Before you leave…are you selling yourself short?
Are you exiting your company because you’ve reached the end of your tether with your business partner?
With pension experts indicating that there has been upsurge in people drawing down their pensions sooner than anticipated because they want to escape their business, it is important to not make rash decisions based on desperation. We believe that it is wiser to make decisions when all other options have been explored. Make an informed and balanced decision is the purest form of common sense.
Are you potentially going to walk away with much less than you’d originally hoped for, or deserve? We totally get that. We’ve been there. When you feel trapped, or at a complete loss how to move forward, you can start to look for the nearest escape route, which may not actually be the best option in the long run.
Even if you’ve decided to exit there are still options to explore, calmly and rationally (sometimes easier said than done). Are you going to sell outright, how much is the company worth? Do you want to leave whilst your partner wants to stay, how will that work? Is there potential for you to step back from the business and still have a company that can support your financially? And so it goes on.
If you get that sinking feeling in your gut when you think about your business, or notice that you’re saying ‘I can’t be bothered’ more frequently, then it’s time for you to consider your position and what you want your future to look like. Suppressing your feelings simply creates more anxiety and resentment and that is a truly dangerous spiral.
Before you throw in the towel, speak to us to find out how we can help you find the best way forward. With us it is simple and supportive. And it could mean you leave with the financial deal you truly deserve and the equanimity that you worked so hard for.
